MaterniT21

My family loves to go to Chik-fil-A, and my kids know that going to Chik-fil-A means PLAYGROUND.  You know all the times that we have eaten at Chik-fil-A, we have never seen the same kids on the playground.  It always new kids.  And you know, I have never once seen a child with Down syndrome on that playground.  Why is that?  Well, it's because our society is bent on eradicating this group of people with Down syndrome.  Why?  Because they have almond eyes, because they have a sandal gap, because of heart defects (that can be repaired), or because of thyroid disorders (that are easily managed with medication).  Is it because people with Down syndrome are not seen as perfect.  Well, if that's what you think, you obviously have never spent more than 5 minutes with a person with Down syndrome.

Just the other day, I took Kamdyn into her bedroom to change her diaper.  When I walked through the door with her in my arms, she looked at me and signed sleep.  So do you know what she did after I changed her diaper?  She took a nap, and she was the one who told ME that she wanted a nap.  That's perfection there, people.

Another thing that comes to mind, as I consider this topic of MaterniT21, is the fact that even though our world is full of beautiful, majestic, and awe inspiring places and people, we also live in a dark world.  We live in a world where orphans across the seas are tied to cribs and left for dead.  We live in a world where people see more value in their money than they do anything else.  And we live in a world where people somehow think that they have the right to decide who is worthy to be here.  That, to me, is scary.

But people with Down syndrome........................

they make the world more bright.

She makes the world more bright.

And with each one that is robbed of a chance, darkness prevails.  With each one that is snuffed out, the world becomes a little less bright.

This world needs more sunshine.

My only peace is that I know who holds it all in His hands.
