Kamdyn pulling to stand!

Yesterday, I was surprised to see Kamdyn standing at the steps.  A few minutes later, I watched her do it again!  We took this video last night after Daddy got home.

A couple of months ago, we got Kamdyn sure steps.  I had high expectations that the sure steps would give her the stability and confidence to stand without being afraid, and even pull to standing.  Now, I see that she just wasn't ready to do those things, sure steps or not.  She has been very nervous about standing.  Kamdyn has a "defensive position" as I like to call it.  When she is nervous, uncomfortable, or afraid, she will clench her fists together and pull them up to her face.  Often times, this has been her reaction to standing.  We've continued to work on her standing and pulling up with help.  I have found the stairs to be the biggest helper with this, because they are at a good height for her to pull up on her own, and they offer enough input that she is not as scared.

During PT, she holds Kamdyn upright by the waist and has her take steps while she has the support of someones body right behind her.  While it's not fluid right now, Kamdyn does show interest in taking steps, so we are happy about that.  Yesterday, the PT assisted Kamdyn in cruising along the couch by weight shifting her body to take steps.  We could tell that Kamdyn is making big improvements.  Since Kamdyn is so motivated by food, the PT suggested that before meal times, we could have her take steps with the support of my body behind her, like I described above, in order to get to her high chair.  (I'll try to get a video of it since my explanation may not have made sense).  Then, as she improves, we can increase the number of steps she has to take.

Kamdyn will be 2 years old in 2 months and 9 days, and while I don't see her walking by then, I think that she is ready to make huge improvements by her second birthday.  I think she could be cruising by then, and that would AWESOME!
