Dr. David Gibbs from the Christain Law Association preached our messages at church today. He is one of our favorite guest preachers, since he always challenges us. Well, today was no different, because his message touched me. It's not about him, but instead what God and His word do in my heart.
He took his message from Psalm 91:1 "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." The message was the 3 conditions to dwelling in the secret place.
1. Do you believe that your God does ALL thing well?
There were days about 9 months ago that I questioned God, and what He is doing with our family and in our lives. I questioned whether He was really doing all things well for us. And there may be moments in the future where I go back to that question of "are all things well?" But just as I did 9 months ago, I always come back to the fact that my God does do ALL things well.
2. Our God is in control.
I may not understand. It may not make sense to me, but God knows. His plan is certainly not mine, because in all honesty, I would not have chosen this fork in the journey of our lives if I had been given the chance. But that is exactly why I was not given a choice. God is in control, and He knows better than I. Look at what I would be missing if God had not acted on what He knew was better for me.
3. God commands that I praise Him.
I should praise Him in all things. Because there are no magic answers in life. There is no answer to that question that is asked so many times by so many: WHY? Well, why not? I don't know. But I have to believe that when God is weaving the fabric of my life, winding each messy color together to form that masterpiece, He is doing it out of love. That love is worth praising about. But do my children hear me praise God from my heart, in a way that they can sense my gratitude. Will they remember that their mommy praised God in all things, because He does all things well.
