Kamdyn's birthday wish list

For Kamdyn's birthday, we are going to take up donations for the York Area Down Syndrome Association.  We have been to several activities lately, including a trip to Philadelphia for the Imagine the Possibilities Conference.  YADSA paid for our trip, which included the actual coference and bus transportation to Philadelphia.  For more activities that are available to us through YADSA go here to their calender.  Activites include a music class, swimming, and Tumble Town, all provided by the donations that YADSA receives.

Some, however, have already told us that they can't resist an opportunity to spoil.  So here are some fun as well as therapuetic toys and materials.

  • Signing time videos:

We have seen some of the signing time videos, and we all love them.  Madison and Austin even love learning the signs.

  • Books with textures and different things to touch and feel.  I found some really good ones at Target.

  • Puzzles:
Kamdyn's therapists say that the puzzles with the very large wooden knobs are best for her.  It will allow her to have a better hold on the pieces than the very small knobs.  Melissa and Doug are good ones.

  • Melissa and Doug play sets

These pieces attach with velcro, and Kamdyn would have to pull them apart and put them back together in the right order.

  • Sorting/matching pegboard toy:  good for using thinking skills for matching and fine motor skills to put pegs on the board.
