The first stop on our trip was more of a spontaneous need to stretch our legs and see some sights.
Welcome to Louisville, Kentucky.
That's one big bat, people.
Perfect size for releasing energy-pent-up-children to do laps.
Bats, bats, and more bats.
Sure, give the little boy who loves to smash things a bat. Great idea.
She makes holding a bat look so sweet. When I asked Madison tonight what she wanted to be when she grows up, she said a baseball player. Maybe this little stop had an impact on her.
Next stop.....................................
..............................................Santa Claus, Indiana
Now lets take the little boy who loves to smash things into a store full of glass. Even better idea.
When we walked in the doors, I looked around and our party of 7 was suddenly left to me, holding Kamdyn and the human destroyer, I mean, Austin. Funny how that worked out, huh? Leave mommy with the Tasmanian devil, not that my son is a devil or anything, just a little whirlwind.
Then, tell him he can touch things with one finger and watch him touch fragile glass trinkets as hard as he possibly can with that one little finger. It went so well (can you sense the sarcasm).
He's still sweet, though.
And don't even get me started on the sweetness of this one.
We wrote letters to Santa.
Madison made it on the good list with no problem. I think the elf told her to make sure she shares more.
I don't know about this one, though.
But, Kamdyn, she has automatic qualification.
While we were in Santa Claus, Indiana, we stayed at the Lake Rudolph Campground and RV resort. We opted for the RV option. It was as close to camping that this family can handle. We had the best of the camping world without sleeping on the ground and having bugs crawling on us. At one point, Madison and Austin were begging to go back into the RV, because they saw too many bugs.
It was far different than my camping experiences as a child with the only running water being the water that was running out of the water jug hanging from the tree as you pushed the button. We didn't brush our teeth into a cup or pee in the bushes. And I better never mention my pathetic fire starting skills to my father. He would never look at me the same again. We were able to get it going enough to make some smores.
We may not have had a "genuine" camping experience, but we woke up every morning to the smell of smoldering logs on the fire and went to bed every night with the smell of those embers dying down for the night. And once I laid still, ready to fall asleep, I could hear the coyotes in the distance making their night calls.
In true camping fashion, we got dirty and went to bed that way.
The next couple of days were spent at.................................
Madison did not want to take this picture so she was being difficult. It turned out to look like she was picking her nose. This will be a good picture for her wedding slide show hehe.
Holiday World is a family owned park with the family in mind. As a mother, that is important to me. They have killer roller coasters for us big people.
The Voyage only happens to be like the best roller coaster in the world. If you are not a roller coaster aficionado, you'll just have to trust me. This ride will make you scream, kick your butt, and make you laugh at the same time.
Then, they have the most inventive water park I have ever been to. Kamdyn loves it, anyway.
Just this year they opened a children's area at the water park with 8 slides that are side by side. Madison and Austin did not stop moving the entire time were in this area. It wasn't just fun for them, but us big people too.
They also loved the wave pool.
As far as the kids go, the biggest succes is the water park. First of all, they love playing in the water, but it's also something they can do without waiting in line or getting on and off of something. It's just constant entertainment.
They love their rides too, though. Their Daddy taught them that.
Even Kamdyn could ride these trucks, but she had to have shoes on,
so she borrowed her brother's shoes. Good thinking, Daddy.
Hey, Baby, nice shoes.....................
Holiday World is a family oriented park run by a family. The love the Koch family has for the park is evident in the upkeep and pride that is displayed in every aspect. I love being in places that are so dear to some one's heart as this is to them. This park is the perfect mix of it all. Sick roller coasters, water park, and kiddie rides. All the perks of the big parks with a charm and family spirit that give the park its appeal. Mrs. Cook, the owner, actually stands outside in the morning and greets her guests as they enter. Some may not know who she is, but just think she is a friendly greeter. It was our pleasure to meet her and speak with her. I hope the spirit of this park continues and only improves as they go on.
Our Holiday World portion of the trip had one little snag with Kamdyn. She had been fighting off some sickness before we left, but she was on the mend. Once we arrived in Indiana, she seemed to be getting worse. One afternoon, we left the park to go back to our RV and get the kids a nap. Kamdyn woke up burning up and screaming. Her temperature got up to 105, and we rushed her to the hospital, which was 30 minutes and one time-zone away. Motrin, Tylenol, antibiotic, and strict nebulizer treatments, and she was better. We never really were able to get an answer on what it really was, because her chest x-ray came back clear. They speculated that it could be a virus. I think she may have had a sinus infection along with croup.
She also got her FIRST TOOTH. YEAH! We were heading out the next day, so we took it easy the rest of the night and spent the next day in the car again. Thank the Lord, she was feeling better almost immediately. We just needed something to remember our trip by, but next time I'd rather just take a post card.
Next stop, Bowling Green, Kentucky..
