4th of July weekend

I'm sure I am going to shock everyone by saying that we started started off our July 4th celebration with a trip to Kennywood in Pittsburgh, PA.  I heard someone say (ahem, my husband) that the only good thing about Pittsburgh is Kennywood, but I won't judge ; )

Kennywood has some more modern rides, but the nostalgia lays in it's old time rides.  Rides like the one my Grandmother talks about  riding with young, handsome men in uniform when she was a 20 something.  The tunnel of love type ride, where you sway back and forth through a dark tunnel on a rickety boat.  Grandma says if they were lucky, they got a kiss.

Or Noah's Ark................

..............truly shocking from Austin's face..........

Well, maybe not, but the kids liked it enough to do it a second time.

We have some pretty cute biker kids on our hands.

Getting some cousin-love from James.............................  one of the best kinds, ya' know.

This is something we don't usually do, so it was a special treat.

And finally, a face to match his wild man personality.  It's supposed to be a dragon..................

Who wouldn't want to ride the wood-carved dog.  C'mon, you know you want to...................

Then, on Monday, dinner at Nan Nan's to celebrate Independence Day.

Fireworks and sparklers to finish off the night.
