Tamana, Kumamoto

Every once in a while I check out the little feedgit thing at the bottom of the page, just to see what's going on.  I know there are people who stop by who don't follow.  Maybe they googled something or just happened upon our little story here.

As I read down the list:  Shawnee, Kansas--big Hi to Shawnee.  My step son goes on a retreat there every year,

Maryland--that's my mama, she's always been my biggest fan : ),

 New Jersey,

Tamana, Kumamoto...........

So my first reaction is "Where is that?" Looks Asian of some sort, right?  So I do what every geographically ignorant person does.  I google it.  And it turns out, Tamana, Kumamoto is in Japan.  So how cool is that?

Now the possibility of someone being bored out of their mind, sitting around googling random things and plopping on our little blog here for like a half a second before surfing to the next place, I realize are pretty great.

But who knows, maybe, just maybe there is someone in Japan, who just found out the baby they carry inside them has Down syndrome, and they are wrestling with the ideas of adoption, abortion, or parenting.  Maybe our little speck of sand on the shores this vast and abounding thing we call the Internet can be a light to someone.

Maybe stopping by our tiny corner of the world here will give someone Hope.  Confidence.  Acceptance.  Or just encouragement that they are not alone.  I hope it does.

Whatever the reason was Tamana, Kumamoto, I hope you enjoyed your visit.  Piracicaba, Sao Paulo and Bursa and Caldas Da Rainha and London and Melbourne, Victoria and Linda-a-velha, Lisboa and Damascus, Dimashq.  Thanks for visiting : )

  2. Well I guess this is my call to come out of lurkdoom. I am the person from Tamana, Japan (although I don`t actually live in Tamana but on some small islands nearby in Kumamoto prefecture). I am originally from the uk. I came to Japan 12 years ago to teach English and ended up getting married to a local guy and have 3 beautiful kiddies. Our third ,but first boy, is a year and 4 months and happens to have DS. I love reading your blog (and other ones by mums with kiddies with DS) and they really helped me through the first confusing few months. Now I just read because I love seeing the faces of the gorgeous kids. Being a foreign mum to a child with DS can be a little isolating over here so reading the blogs helps me feel a little less alone. Thank you. (BTW this is the second time I wrote this as the first time my message didn`t show up, so sorry if for some reason this gets posted twice!!!).

  3. So Kamdyn and your little boy are about the same age. Thanks for leaving a comment. I think its cool how the internet can connect people who are so far away from eachother, but connected by the extra chromosome our kids share. If you ever want to talk, I'd be happy to send you my email : )
