a fundraising idea and some random things

A friend of ours set us up to do a fundraiser at Roaring Knob Speedway, where they do dirt track racing.  My family, along with two other families from our local Down syndrome group, and a few of our friends sold 50/50 tickets during the races.  In case you don't know, 50/50 tickets are when someone pays a certain amount to purchase tickets.  In this case, 1 for $1 or an arm's length for $5.  At the end of the night, Kamdyn pulled the winner.........................

The idea is that our organization gets 50% of the total money given, and the winner, who was pulled, gets the other 50%.  Kamdyn pulled the right person, because the person who won donated their money back to us, and our friend from the race track threw some in too.  We ended up raising about $1,000 in one night.  Not bad.  Pretty awesome, actually.

One thing that I have seen since Kamdyn was born is that most people are kind and generous, and it never hurts to ask.

It was COLD that night.

Earlier that day, we went to Strasburg Railroad in Lancaster, PA.

They do train rides, tours, and they have a museum.  You can walk around and look at all the trains and shop in old general stores.  They also do a Day out with Thomas with Thomas the Tank Engine.

Kamdyn on the train:

You can put the window next to your seat down.  It is slightly nerve racking to have your three year old leaning on an open window with nothing between him and the ground zipping by underneath, but he loved looking out the window.

They don't call it "Amish country" for nothing.

It's pretty beautiful.

He loved the trains.
