Dear pneumonia

You stink, and I don't like you. You're making my baby sleepy

and uncomfortable with a sore, raw nose and a wicked cough.

Go away and leave her alone!

Just a quick update on Kamdyn:  A friend gave us a pulse ox machine last night, and we were playing with it and checking everyone.  Kamdyn's was 97% last night.  This morning, when I checked I got everything from 84-92%, none of which are great.  I made an appointment for this afternoon, and they sent us for x-rays.  They confirmed pneumonia, but they got a pulse ox reading of 93%, which is still in normal limits.  So Kamdyn was given an antibiotic shot and put on a different oral antibiotic, since she had already been on one for over a week.  The one she was on is used to treat pneumonia, but sometimes pneumonia can be resistant to certain antibiotics.  We're at home for now but prepared to go to the hospital if need be.  My prayer is that this treatment will knock it out of her, and she'll recover quickly.

  2. Praying for her too. We just dealt with hospitalizations and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Get better quick, Kamdyn!

  4. Good job mom, sounds like you got on top of it quickly. Cate dealt with it three times at about the same age and never had to be hospitalized. We saw a pulmonologist the third time and he put her on a maintence med which did the trick. Keeping Kamdyn in my prayers for a quick recovery.
