Kamdyn picks up new signs so easily now. She is really a sponge. She was signing "thunder" after seeing it once on Signing Time.
Even though she likes to sign, Kamdyn would rather say the word than sign it. She will usually verbalize while signing now. Some of her spoken words are close and others not so much, but the point is that she is trying.
She stands up on her own:
She takes a few steps before falling. I think the record so far is 10 steps.
She's pretty good with a spoon now:
On the worst night of Hurricane Sandy, Kamdyn bumped her mouth and lost her bottom front tooth. They don't replant baby teeth : (

She likes to say "hi" to people, but only if she says it first. If someone says hi to her, she lowers her head, avoids eye contact and acts shy. Seriously?! This kid is so not shy! I think it's just another opportunity for her to exert her toddler will, if you ask me.
I love sitting with her and seeing what she's going to do. She's a character. Tonight, she plopped herself on the couch next to me. (She can climb up on her own) She nestled in next to me and sighed as she sat back. I asked her, "Kamdyn, what are you doing? Just chillin'?" Looking straight ahead, she says, "Yea" and nods her head once. Ha!
The other day, I was making dinner when I heard a rustling in the living room, where I had left the said child. I've been in the habit of putting things on the back of the couch so that they were out of said child's reach. Well, now that she can climb onto the couch by herself, she sees me put things up there, waits until I leave, and then climbs up and gets them. ie. the remote, phone, etc... This time, a bag of wipes. When I entered the room, she had emptied and crumpled the whole bag. Urrgg. That annoys me. Crumpled wipes. I shoved them all back in. No use caring now. I was turning to go put them in a more appropriate, out of reach, location when Kamdyn starts saying, "mama! mama! mama!" and pointing. I had missed a wipe. So sorry I missed one, Kamdyn.

Ohhhh, these videos are SO cute!! Word approximations are the BEST, because you're really seeing how hard they try. I was worried that Samantha would never switch them out for the real words, but she did. I don't miss toddler mischief at all, btw. That's not to say that big girl mischief doesn't happen, but it's most definitely not the same.
ReplyDeleteShe is doing great in so many different areas! I love how she told you you had missed a wipe! lol
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that last picture of her, she is such a beauty :)
I can't believe she is 2.5 years old already! She is doing so well!
