I choose you

 Kamdyn,

Even though the choice wasn't up to me, because God meant for us to be together, I just wanted to let you know that today.............................

I choose you.

You have delays.  And those delays separate you from your peers. They have had us in hours of therapy each week and sitting in IEP meetings.

You are not your delay.

I choose you.

You are more prone to certain medical issues.  You see an ENT, audiologist, cardiologist, pulmonologist, and eye doctor.

You are not a diagnosis.

I will treat you as an individual.

I choose you.

You have a disability.  That disability is written on your face for everyone to see. There have been comments.  There have been stares.  They will judge you and some will count you out.

I will not.

You are not your disability.

I choose you.

You are the most empathetic and caring child I have ever met. You love babies. You can't stand to hear anyone cry. You are stubborn, and you scream really loud.  At least the ENT said so yesterday, when she tried to look into your ears. You are so proud of yourself when you accomplish new things.  So am I.  You are full of joy.  And I am full of gratefulness.  Gratefulness for you.

I choose you.

And my prayer

for you

in this world

is that others

will choose you too.

I love you.
