Deep in the heart of Texas

The city of San Antonio is absolutely gorgeous.  Magical.

The streets are filled with quaint, homey features that welcomed us.  The River Walk was breathtaking.

Along this peaceful river are shops and restaurants.  They are nestled up and down a serene atmosphere, each a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.  So beautiful.

Even the upper city streets hold their charm with their tall, beautiful architecture.

The city maintains it's hometown feel with horse drawn carriages and lit street lamps.

It was even more beautiful at night.  Even more magical.  And not as hot : )

San Antonio is also the home of:

Morgan's Wonderland is the first amusement park in the world specifically designed for the enjoyment of individuals with special needs.  With a goal of having more volunteers than paid employees, the staff who work there are committed to helping and creating the best environment possible.

The carousel was 100% wheel chair accessible.  Also the bench seating still went up and down so that everyone could enjoy the ride.

She liked it.

Swing set that a wheel chair can be attached to.  How cool is that?

Yes, even the train was wheel chair accessible.

Outside of each ride, they placed one of the ride seats so that a child who is nervous could actually sit in the seat and get acquainted prior to riding.  There's nothing they haven't thought of.

The sensory play indoor area was awesome.  It had a pretend grocery store, where they can fill up a basket and pay.  A simulated car and weather station with a tv screen that shows you with the weather.  Our other kids would have loved it.  I have no doubt that if they were there, they could have spent HOURS in that one area.

We also made a lightning quick trip to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, where Brad jammed in the 8 roller coasters in our short visit.  Me, with my bum ankle only got in 5.

Look, there he goes!  He is the blur in the back seat.

That's our sight seeing adventures in a nut shell.  I'll have more on the actual conference to come.

The Alamo

Well, we're back.  When we got to the airport yesterday at 4:00 in the morning for our 6am flight, we were pretty surprised to find out that we had in fact missed our departure by 24 hours.  OOPS!  Big oops.  Obviously, our trip wasn't without its glitches, but it was an amazing experience and a great trip.  I am so glad that we were able to do it.  I have a bunch of pictures, but for now, here's the Alamo...............

Hey there.  Welcome to the Alamo.

Bravo.  We love Texas.
