pumpkins and Sir Topham Hat

With the torrential down pours and constant pitter patter of rain against our windows, we spent several days cuddled up inside, wearing jammies far past lunch time.

Madison and Austin excitedly carried their piece of bread down to the newly formed duck pond.  But we soon found out that these ducks were not interested in any bread we had to offer, because they waded their little duck rear ends clear to the other side of the "pond" as soon as we came close.

To no avail, we threw our bread as far as we could get it, hoping they would be enticed back.

Maybe their fear had something to do with this.................

After the days of heavy rain, and the open field behind our house that turned into every duck's dream location, the sky opened up on Saturday.  Amidst bright blue skies and the warm sun, we headed to the pumpkin patch.

Complete with every 2 year old boys dream.......

a big John Deere tractor.

If you have hay fever, this is not the place for you, unless you do like little cousin Ellie, and down the children's Zyrtec before you go.

Piles of pumpkins for my little pumpkins.  They caressed and cradled every pumpkin they could get their hands on.

Mums the word.

Can you tell he's a little excited?

See our buddy, James.  There's no dull moment around that little ball of energy.

Madison tried all weekend to master the art of saying Aunt Meredith.  It always came out like she was saying the name of a muppet or one of those funny creatures from Fraggle Rock.

We bumped up and down, while sitting on bails of hay, and snuggled up to people we love.

In fields of green, we tromped, and pushed back the lush green leaves, in search of the perfect pumpkin.

Brad and Justus had a contest going. Can you guess?

Not who can find the biggest pumpkin.

But who can find the smallest.

They found theirs.

Justus won.

With so many great choices, it's hard to choose.

I love it how my kids are close to their cousins even though they live 8 hours away.  Every time they get together, they pick up right where they left off, as if they saw each other yesterday.

We ended the weekend with a trip to Six Flags.

My boy loves Thomas Town.  And Austin reached a milestone in his young two years of life on this gray, rainy day.  Upon seeing an amusement park character, he did not turn and hide behind my legs.

He gave Sir Topham Hat some love.  Because even big faced, plastic looking train conductors need to feel the love.
