First, during OT this afternoon, while Ms. Jenn held the bottom of a stack of blocks, Kamdyn stacked a block on top. That's right. By herself. The kid placed the block on top. We were pretty excited.
Then, this afternoon, I heard some new sounds that I haven't heard yet. I distinctly heard her stray from her usual "dadadadada" to "babababa", which I was equally happy about. Not only for the expansion in speech, but also because I am anxiously awaiting a "mama". So getting her lips together to make a "b" sound is only one step away from "m".
And a little video from our trip to the National Zoo in Washington DC on Monday.

As a mother of a child with physical and learning disabilities… I am always interested in hearing the stories of others and how they have coped with raising a ‘special’ child. I recently saw a film called ‘Dakota’s Pride’ which showed the MANY wonderful blessings children with Down syndrome bring to this world. I can’t even express to you how moved I was by this film! I was amazed by all of their accomplishments… one young man with Down syndrome even graduated from college, drives his own car and is an advocate for other adults with Down syndrome! I know you get to experience these many wonders on a daily basis, but I thought I would share the following link for the video. http://www.dakotaspride.com/Maybe you can add this to your resource this! I enjoyed reading your story! I am glad to hear that your daughter is doing so well! She is precious!
