Washington DC National Zoo

Last week, when I could walk without crutches : (  We went to the zoo.  But rather than be upset over my current gimp status, I'll just rejoice in the fact that this is only temporary, and it is giving me the opportunity to slow down and relax more.  I am reading more books, snuggling, and taking it easy.

But back to the zoo.  Here it is:

A tiger's chew toy:

A lion's claw:

This ape (or whatever exactly it is) LOVED Kamdyn.  When I took this picture, I had leaned Kamdyn down toward the glass, and the ape kept turning to look at her.  And as soon as Brad peaked his head in, she would turn and give him the cold shoulder until he left.  Isn't she gorgeous?  That was really cool.

Our little monkey:

The invertebrate exhibit:

Roaches.  Ewwwwwww!

This is how my mind sees every spider.  I have had blood-curdling-screaming night terrors to prove it.  But I'm much better now : D

Austin playing on the giant pizza.  What does a giant pizza have to do with the zoo?  I have no idea.  But we love pizza, even playing on it.

This gorilla was giving us the cold shoulder too.

I was surprised when Madison saw this and told me it was a chameleon.  When I asked her how she knew, she said, "It's in Rapunzel."  At least she learned something from it, right?

We happened to be looking in an exhibit at the same time as this little boy, and Madison took it upon herself to become his personal tour guide.  She took him to each window, pointed in and showed him each animal.  Suddenly, she became a zoological expert.  Too cute.

You can pet the cows and the goats.

Great day!
