Today was our first field trip, and we went to a local Fire Department. Madison is learning about community helpers in her social studies book, and this was the perfect field trip for that.
I was worried when we got there, and this was the reaction:
As soon as we walked through the engine house doors, things started looking up....
Did you know that red fire trucks are a thing of the past. It's kind of sad to me, because that is the picture that comes to mind when I think of a fire truck. The bright "fire truck red". It could be its own crayola crayon color. Apparently, it's more about the lights and sirens than the color of the truck. So bye, bye red trucks.
Hello.............. blue and yellow?
Just not right. I guess I'll get over it.
I think this is pretty cool......
They got to sit in a couple of different trucks.
Those boots are as big as her.
Somebody doesn't like to leave anything on her head, including clips, barrettes, head bands, and firefighter hats. Notice how I said fireFIGHTER, as apposed to fireman. We're equal opportunity here.
When I'm taking pictures, I often take a few in a row, hoping that one will come out well. When everyone was trying to get a group picture, I started snapping away. When I looked later, I thought I caught a cute moment. Little Adyson on the right looks down and notices Kamdyn.
She bends down, but Kamdyn isn't giving her anything.
She decides to take matters into her own hands, and demand eye contact.
It worked. She got her attention. So cute.
We're sticking with our community helpers theme, and going to the police station next week.
