Today is the day. Kamdyn is having her tonsils and adenoids removed, tubes replaced, and an ABR (sedated hearing test). She's not a fan of doctors or nurses or anyone wearing a stethoscope, so she was getting pretty irritated in pre-op. And then...........
The happy juice.
I asked to give it to her, because in addition to hating doctors and nurses, she also refuses to take medicine. And after trying many methods, I finally have one that works and keeps her from spuing medicine all over the place.
Happy juice is some good stuff. Kamdyn got all floppy and silly and kept giggling. When we got to the doors where we had to leave her, she went to the anesthesiologist with no problems. I wanted to cry, but I didn't. Since she was ok, so it made it much easier. I really feel for anyone who has handed their child over for open heart surgery.
Now, we wait.
Glad your little one is okay, reading this made me think of handing my daughter over for Open heart surgery when she was 3 months old. She is 18 months now and has DS.

I don't know how you do it but you truely inspire me. Your journey puts a lot of things in my life into perspective. Thinking of you all.
ReplyDeleteSo hard but she will so much better after its all healed. Once we got Cate past the first week of recovery - which I will admit was not fun at all - things were great. Cate showed a big decrease in the # of colds, sore throats and ear infections she got before the surgery. Fingers crossed for a smooth surgery and recovery for you.
ReplyDeleteI think it's hard handing over your baby,no matter the surgery. I had a hard time during her T&A too, even though I know that less than a year before she'd had OHS. Glad she's out and recovering. Thinking good healing thoughts for your sweet girl.
ReplyDeleteHanding a child over...no matter what the procedure, is the hardest thing I've ever done!
