The ENT successfully removed Kamdyn's tonsils and adenoids. She said they were both very small, but the size does not indicate the ease of recovery or the results we will get afterwards. We are hoping for a smooth recovery and that her sleep apnea will be resolved after this.
Kamdyn also had two brand new tubes placed. It's a relief to know that my baby can hear again. I expect to notice significant results in the next couple of weeks.
Last, she had an ABR to check if there was any permanent or inner ear hearing loss. It took significantly less time to perform the ABR, because her ears tested great. That means no permanent hearing loss, and she doesn't need hearing aids. It would have been fine if there was a problem. We take things as they come, and we would have done what is best or Kamdyn. But it is a relief to not have that on our plates. Getting Kamdyn to keep on a hearing aid would not be easy. I can tell you that.
Thanks for the comments on my previous post. And thank you to everyone thinking about and praying for Kamdyn.
Thanks for the update! Prayers for a speedy recovery.
ReplyDeleteYay on all of that! Sounds great. Cora's adenoids obstructed about 70% of her airway. So even if they don't think that size impacts healing let's hope that maybe it will. And great news on her ears. The next two weeks will be hard as she recovers, which is a drag, but you will get through it. Hugs to you guys!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! hope she has a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteIn glad it all went well!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear her surgery went well just found your blog. nice to find other mom's to talk to. I will keep her in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear good news! We all take things as they come, but it is always such a relief when we don't have to worry about extra stuff!!!!! I can imagine hearing aids would be difficult with Kamdyn (I know how hard they would be with Hailey!!!)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear it all went well. Hope Kamdyn recovers quickly and is back to her old self soon. Russell took a looong time recovering from his surgery last year. That's great news about the hearing test too!
ReplyDeleteGreat news that there is no hearing loss! Levi has a sleep study scheduled for next month. The ENT says his tonsils are huge and thinks he is sucking on his tongue to keep his airway open. So glad all went well for you all. Praying for a quick and easy recovery!
ReplyDeleteTricia...I can't seem to find the post with a tinkerbell costume?
