Now, about Easter.
Since Easter day is pretty busy for us, we dyed Easter eggs a few days before Easter.
The kids loved it. They didn't remember how to do it from last year, so it was all new to them.
A few years ago, we dyed a bunch of eggs, and those were the eggs that we hid on Easter morning. When the kids completely did not understand the concept that those were real eggs that needed refrigerated and couldn't be carried around in their basket all day, we decided to go the plastic egg route for Easter egg hunts from then on. And since no one is a big hard-boiled egg fan, we basically just do it for the experience of it.
Brad just started a part-time second job, and he has been working a lot, 7 days last week. Since he had to work on Easter, we held off on our Easter baskets and egg hunt until he could be there. I did make sure to get our annual Easter morning picture. These always end up being favorites and several of them are hanging around the house.
We work in the Bus Ministry at our church. For those who don't know what that is, its a church ministry where we ride yellow school buses and ride around to different areas and pick up mostly kids and sometimes adults (some with intellectual disabilities) and take them to Sunday School and church. So that's how we started our Easter morning: on the bus. It has been strange running the bus without Brad there. Over 10 years ago, Brad and I ended up running the same bus together and spending a lot of time together because of it, which led us to where we are today.
After all that, we went to Justus' mom's house for an egg hunt and dinner.
Kamdyn ditched her bucket and was happier walking around. I think focusing on walking on the unsteady ground, carrying and bucket, and bending was too much for her. I have noticed that when she bends over, she puts one hand on the ground to steady herself.
Finally, we went back home to see Daddy and open their Easter baskets. We never did do our own egg hunt, and the eggs are still sitting in a bucket on the counter. We did 2 others, so I guess that's good enough for this year. The one was a community Easter egg hunt that a local business sponsors. Here's Kamdyn saying hello to one of the characters who was walking around:
As long as he doesn't get any closer than that, she's good. She's not a fan of characters.
Brad was working for this too, so my mom came along and took some pictures.
Kamdyn didn't really enjoy getting the eggs. She's still a pretty new walker, and she has a hard time walking on surfaces that aren't flat. When she plopped down and wasn't going to move, we piled up eggs around her, so she could fill her bucket.
At the end of the day on Easter, everyone was sugared up and exhausted from all of the fun things we had done.
Kamdyn ate her ring pop while taking a rest on Austin.
That about sums it up.

Looks like you all have a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a good Easter! Madi was the same with the egg hunts.....not too interested. She picked up a couple of eggs for pictures but that was about it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures. We had to postpone our Easter celebration until next Sunday due to multiple illnesses in the house. Hopefully our weather will be just as nice this weekend and we can get some pretty shots like you did.
